“YOU CAN’T TAKE IT WITH YOU”

Mt 6:19-21 “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

While watching football this past week, I saw some teams playing with great zeal to win a coveted ranking. There was great excitement over the two teams on each field. The spectators cheered with enthusiasm as one team scored a touchdown, or as a player made a great defensive play.

Then on Friday, I saw some news clips of some really ridiculous shoppers, sacrificing sleep and family time just to stand in line at a stupid store to get something that they really did not need.

Even my brothers- in- law stood in a store until 5 am to buy a limited item. What a waste of time. How foolish is it to let materialism rule ones life. I do not shop unless I know what I absolutely NEED.

As Christians, God will supply all our needs. Philippians 4:19

“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

Even our desires are awarded to us; Ps 37:4 “Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.”

Whenever I see a Hurst, I do not see a u-haul in tow.

It is a simple fact of life; you can’t take it with you.

Here are some things we can send on ahead:

1.     Treasure of family members:

Are your Family Members Going to heaven? Have you told them about the Saviour? Are they believers also?

Are you going? Can you honestly say, you are going to heaven?

2.     Treasure of talents used:

Are you using your talents to please the Lord? There are enough people serving themselves. Who is going to serve GOD?

Treasures cannot be kept forever on this earth.

You can’t take it with you. Why hoard them up? If you have a talent, why not let GOD use it.

2Ch 34:12 And the men did the work faithfully: and the overseers of them were Jahath and Obadiah, the Levites, of the sons of Merari; and Zechariah and Meshullam, of the sons of the Kohathites, to set it forward; and other of the Levites, all that could skill of instruments of musick.

God wanted men who were skilled in Carpentry, Masonry, singers, teachers, evangelists, etc.

GOD WANTS PEOPLE STILL to Carry out his work.

Mt 25:15- chapter….

And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.

GOD gives us talents to use. Are you using them?

The Temple of God was in ruins…. why? People were so concerned about their own homes and forgot about the house of GOD. Hag 1:

What can you do to further the Work here at VBBC?

Well, I feel that it is the pastors job. Well, I did it before, I am going to let the younger people do it….

Some of you do not see the vision of what this church can be.

Singles Ministry

Van/bus ministry

Addiction Program

Region wide visitation

Children’s Ministry

All these things cant be run by one person… it cant be by a few of us… it is a CHURCH WIDE effort.

The Church needs to be cleaned. “IT IS THE PASTORS JOB”

Chairs in my office need to be sanded and spray painted, the oil bill is out of whack, someone needs to help change the sign, walls need to be put up, walls need to be patched up, walls need painting, bathrooms need to be redone and kept up, tables need to be replaced, holes need to be filled…

There is much PHYSICALLY to do.

We need people to pray for each other. We need people to be more OTHERS Minded. We need to be out visiting more, we need to bring souls to JESUS. We need to get more folks in here to teach them about JESUS. We need to get busy…

Talents are being wasted. Why? Why? Why?

We are wicked and slothful…

I can do more this week than this past. Can you?

“Oh but Pastor, what if someone slams the door on me? What if I get a splinter? What if the sky turns green and the grass turns red? KEEP ON GOING.

Is there a cause?  Is it only my job to do these things?

If it is, I am going to keep on plugging.

Talents wasted. What a shame.
